Creality Falcon 2 is the world’s first fully-enclosed 60W diode laser cutter. At least, that is what they are saying about their new engraver.
Laser engraving technology has come a long way, it was not so long ago that diode lasers were considered powerful if they exceeded 10W. Anything more was the realm of CO2 for home and DIY users.
Yet still, issues around high costs, maintenance issues, and user-friendliness remain.
Creality, with the new Creality Falcon2 Pro 60W, has announced the first fully enclosed diode laser engraver with this power level, and promises of low-maintenance and ease of use, now available for pre-order.
The standout feature is of course the 60W power. This means it can apparently cut through even thin metal, and make short work of thick basswood, and up to 30mm acrylic, in one pass.
Having this much power certainly would expand the range of materials you can work with, opening up more creative possibilities and business use-cases.
Falcon 2 Key Features:
So what do you get with this machine, other than a super-powerful laser module?
- Large Usable Work Area: At 400x400mm or just under 16” square, it is not the biggest desktop laser but a very capable unit for the small studio or home workshop.
- Fully Enclosed Laser Cutter: Combining high power with an enclosed design for enhanced safety, to contain fumes, and high performance.
- Precision Camera Positioning: A top-mounted high-resolution camera for accurate material positioning across the laser bed.
- Speed and Efficiency: Built-in cooling system and optimized algorithms reduce power loss and enhance cutting speed. The 60W module is 300% more efficient than a 22W laser, significantly reducing the time needed for tasks. Apparently it cuts 5mm (~3/16 inch) plywood at 700 mm/min.
- Versatility: A 3-level intelligent beam adjustment allows you to easily switch between 60W, 40W, and 22W settings. This flexibility lets you handle a wide range of projects, from large-scale cutting to finer engraving.
- Convenience: Pull-out drawers for easy clean-up. A push-pull cover is helpful for small spaces.
- Highly Detailed Engraves: The package includes a 1.6W engraving laser module for high-precision work on materials like wood, leather, acrylic, and even precious metals.
Creality Falcon Safety Features:
The fully enclosed, fire-resistant design ensures no laser leakage, making it safe to operate without protective goggles. The transparent cover provides an eye-friendly view of the work area.
Additionally, the machine includes flame detection, an emergency stop button, tilt/impact detection, and a built-in smoke exhaust system to quickly remove harmful fumes and dust.
Great features for peace of mind so you can work safely and efficiently at home or in a small workshop.
Where to Find Out More
Right now the Creality Falcon 2 is available for pre-order, with a limit of 200 units.
I am hoping to get my hands on one of these machines to see if the promises live up to reality, and to compare against my current go-to laser, the xTool S1!
